Terms and Conditions
To hire the camper, please phone or email to check availability. We will take a non-refundable booking fee from you over the phone (usually 50% of the overall fee). We will then email or post the booking forms to you and ask that you return them as soon as possible so we can arrange insurance cover.
You can pay the outstanding balance when you collect the van, or if you prefer you can spread the cost by paying off instalments before the hire. The full cost of the hire will be required before you drive the van away.
There will be a £500 security deposit taken for insurance purposes which will be fully refundable on the return of the clean, undamaged van. The price of the hire includes fully comprehensive insurance for one driver. If you require an extra driver, please let us know and we can add them on at a cost. The driver(s) must bring with them a valid and in date photo driving licence and a copy of 2 recent utility bills to prove your identity. If you fail to show these documents, you may have to forfeit any fees paid.
The hirer needs to be between the ages of 25 – 75 years old for insurance purposes.
The insurance is for the van, equipment and fixtures and fittings only. Personal possessions are not covered. The hirer is advised to take out their own travel insurance to cover personal injury or loss.
The camper will be supplied with fuel in it. You must return the van with the same level of fuel. A bottle of gas will be supplied. If you need to buy more gas, please keep your receipt and we will refund you at the end of the hire. Please check that the gas connections are tightly secured before use.
We recommend you use electric hook up to get the best out of the vans. Some features will/may not work as well without it
The camper is equipped with cutlery and crockery for 6 people. We ask that you bring your own bedding and towels, although we can provide these at cost if required.
The motorhomes are longer and higher than normal vehicles so care needs to be taken with them that you leave enough room when turning and use the mirrors effectively. Morwenna and Demelza are 3.5 tons gross weight which means they can be driven on a normal car licence, “The Duchess” Will require a Category C Licence or you must have passed your driving test pre 1997
In the event of any fixed penalty notice being issued during the hire period, all costs will be forwarded to the hirer.
We are flexible on the collection times of the vans, please let us know what time you think you will be arriving and we will do our best to accommodate you.
There are no refunds given for vehicles returned earlier than the agreed hire period.
In the event of a cancellation by Truro Motor Home Hire, due to accident, breakdown or other circumstances beyond our control, Firstly we will try and offer another van if available. If one is not available then we will offer a full refund. In this event, the hirer shall have no further claim against Truro Motor Home Hire
Truro Motor Home Hire reserve the right to cancel the hire in the event of an invalid driving licence or if the terms and conditions are not met. The cost of the hire will not be refunded in these circumstances.
Hirers are expected to check the engine oil and water levels regularly. Full instructions on how to do this will be given at time of collection. Failure to do this, may result in breakdown for which Truro Motor Home Hire will hold no responsibility and any damages will be deducted from the £500 security deposit. If any warning light appears, hirer must stop immediately and phone for assistance.
In the event of breakdown please contact us in the first instance as it may be a simple fault that can be fixed straight away. All vans are covered by AA breakdown recovery, full details can be found in the glovebox. There is a full emergency breakdown kit behind the passenger seat which includes reflective jackets and warning triangles.
In the event of a breakdown Truro Motor Home Hire are not responsible for the cost of a replacement vehicle, alternative accommodation or alternative transport. We will do our very best to help in unforeseen circumstances but cannot be held responsible. We service all vehicles regularly to help prevent breakdowns from happening
In the event of an accident the hirer must inform Truro Motor Home Hire immediately. The hirer is not authorised to complete any repairs without the owner’s permission. The hirer is responsible to Truro Motor Home Hire for the cost of making good any damage caused by improper treatment of the van and will forfeit all or some of the £500 security deposit taken at the time of hire. In the event of minor breakages to items inside the van, please inform us when you return and we can then replace items in time for the next hirers.
The hirer must not use the camper for hire or reward. The hirer is responsible to Truro Motor Home Hire for the cost of making good any damage caused by improper treatment. The hirer agrees to limit liability by Truro Motor Home Hire to a maximum of a refund of the total hire charges in respect of any claim. Truro Motor Home Hire reserves the right to vary the rates, terms and conditions of hire and to refuse hire to any person without explanation or prior warning.
